about me

Much of the inspiration for my work is drawn from the many friends, family and client's who've more or less afforded me the creative license to frame a picture, frame a mirror or craft something from reclaimed wood........thank you!

The creative side of my work has developed through various jobs, finding lumps of wood in skips, and particularly my good fortune in having travelled extensively. Seeing the many and varied arts and crafts around the world, especially those in Africa and Asia, are a big part of the journey, though it's only just begun.....

Creating something original by hand is also a driving force. Seeing craftsmen and women in Swaziland - where I spent a couple of months on voluntary work in 2002, creating a masterpiece using simple tools or their hands, is also an inspiration. As I'm not formally trained in any field of woodwork, I have to credit my handicraft skills to my Grandfather, who was a bricklaying artisan.

The environmental issue is also important of course. Rainforests and all they contain are beautiful. So lets not destroy them! I'm also keen not to throw away our entire heritage, as there is plenty to remember. Even old pieces of wood have a story to tell!

My workshop and home are currently in Palmers Green, North London. Some day I'm heading for the coast!
