Annual Westleton Barrel Fair
Westleton, Suffolk

A major event in the festival calendar held in the sleepy Suffolk village of Westleton, which comes alive every third Sunday in August for this day of good-old traditional country fun. Barrel races are staged on the sweeping village green throughout the day and there are side-shows, plant and book stalls, Morris Dancers, Punch and Judy, portaloos and a beer tent. A celebrity always opens the Barrel Fair, which adds to the anticipation. This year Herr Flick made a welcome return from 'Allo 'Allo - he was dressed the part too! Doctor Cox from That's Life now lives in the village and always has an active involvement. My friend Chris got his autograph last year!

I must have sold it by now. If not, on the Saturday night, locals and holidaymakers mass for live music, free flowing beer and strange dancing in the pub car park overlooking the pond, for an evening of unique entertainment only ever found in the backwaters of Suffolk!
